What Is Futsal?

Futsal is soccer played with a ball with less bounce than a regular soccer ball. It is played indoors on various surfaces. Futsal is much like indoor soccer, however, there are no walls.

The rules of the game creates an emphasis on improvisation, creativity, and technique. Playing futsal requires a person to be well skilled in passing and 1v1 in small spaces.
Futsal is so popular around the world, that there has been a Futsal National Championship competition in the U.S. every year since 1985. There has also been a World Championship held in various locations around the world every three years, the first was in 1982.

The futsal tournament at Ohio Northern differs slightly than regular futsal rules. The field at our tournament is slightly bigger than normal and we use full sized goals. Due to the larger field, our games are played 6v6 as opposed to traditional futsal rules of 5v5 (including keepers).
